Could Your Group Benefit From My Facilitation Guidance? Do you have a problem that you are struggling to solve on your own? Would it be helpful to have the guidance of an external facilitator as you conduct your next annual or strategic planning session? Do you have a sensitive, emotion rich personal safety, food safety, or environmental incident that would benefit from having a third party use the TapRooT® incident investigation and root cause analysis process to help you analyze it? If so, I can help you in one or more of these areas, and I can do so in a value added, low cost manner. I have been serving as an internal and external process facilitator for over 25 years. I have taught group facilitation skills to others, and I have applied my own skills to help groups solve a variety of problem types and develop both short and long range strategic plans. In addition to planning and facilitating group events for you, I can also prepare corrective actions, summary reports, and planning documents that are both professional and easy to utilize. If you think your group could benefit from utilizing my skills, please let me know what type of event you would like my help with, and I can prepare you a quote for such services. Two Day Facilitating and Leading Teams Workshop Back to Top If you want to quickly assess whether or not this workshop would benefit your organization, simply do the math. Estimate the number of hours a week you spend in meetings, multiply by that number by 50, and then by 35 (or more if you make over $70,000 a year). Once you have that total, estimate the percentage of the average meeting time that is non-value added - wasteful - and multiply that percent by the previous total. In the typical organization, a manager spends at least 10 hours a week in meetings, for an annual meeting cost per person of $17,500 if that manager makes $70,000 a year (benefits not included). Also typically, at least 50% of every meeting hour is wasteful. In other words, at least $8,750 per year is being lost per year in wasteful meetings per person! This two day, practice oriented, workshop will allow you and others in your organization to learn about and practice the skills necessary for improving group dynamics, minimizing the negative effect of groupthink, and most importantly, getting the most out of every minute of meeting time. The workshop will also help you identify what meetings are really necessary and how many teams are really needed to accomplish the goals of the organization. By investing less than $4,000, you can easily save ten times that amount if you use the skills that we will cover and practice in these two days. Perhaps more importantly, you will learn how to use this recovered time for making improvements. To learn more about my "Facilitating and Leading Teams" workshop, simply follow the link or send me an e-mail to request a formal quote. TapRooT® 2 and 5 Day Root Cause Analysis Workshops Back to Top I have taught over 140 courses and helped more than 250 organizations as a certified international trainer and consultant for the TapRooT® root cause analysis process. I believe that this approach to root cause analysis far exceeds the more opinion-based approaches that have been used for years, such as fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and fault tree analysis. Additionally, the TapRooT® root cause tree represents a collection of 102 best practices for reducing human error and performance challenges, and in turn, can be used to error proof your work systems. If you want to reduce significant amounts of waste, improve customer satisfaction levels, and grow your business, you need work systems that promote effective, daily human performance and minimize the potential for equipment breakdowns. To learn more about this service that I can provide you with, there are three options to consider. First and foremost, I would be happy to provide you with a quote for an onsite 2 day or 5 day TapRooT® root cause analysis workshop. If you would like a quote, simply click on this link to request a quote via e-mail. You can also read my article entitled "How Do You Find Root Causes?", which can be found on this website or visit the official TapRooT® website. Incident Investigation Facilitation Back to Top I can also use the TapRooT® process as an investigation facilitator to help you find the systemic root causes and develop effective corrective actions for your most pressing problems. Typically, I will work with your investigation team for as little as four hours or as much as two to three days to gather additional information, explore the right questions, and analyze your existing work systems in order to find the systemic root causes of those problems that seem to keep coming back. Once we have identified these root causes, I will then work with your team to develop a set of corrective actions which address both the specific and the generic challenges at hand. In addition to coming up with effective fixes for your problem, you will also gain some insight into how the TapRooT® process actually works. If you are interested in obtaining a quote for my assistance in this facilitation service area, simply send me an e-mail or give me a call at the number provided at the bottom of this page. Annual and Strategic Planning Process Facilitation Back to Top I began facilitating annual planning sessions back in 1986, and since that point in time, I have helped numerous organizations both improve their annual and longer term strategic planning processes and develop focused, results based plans. Over the past ten years as an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, I have continued to learn more about planning system best practices and refine the approaches that I teach to others in this area. Annual plans can typically be developed in two to three days once the basic planning inputs have been collected. If you are interested in developing a sound, focused, and results oriented organizational or site improvement plan, simply send me an e-mail or give me a call at the number provided at the bottom of this page. Other Great Systems! Workshops Facilitated by Kevin McManus Back to Top I design all of my workshops to be highly interactive and practice oriented. I also make it a personal goal to help you find ways to actually use the material that is covered in a workshop. As much as anyone, I don't like to simply sit in a lecture learning about high level concepts that I most likely won't use. Instead, I want to use my valuable time to learn about HOW to use key skills in a manner that will make my organization more effective. If your needs are similar to mine, I invite you to further explore the different workshops that I offer via this link. I am sure that you will at least one of them that is intended to address a pressing improvement need that you currently have. Would you like to learn more about my process excellence certificate processes? Back to Top If the information on this web page has made you think a little about the degree to which process excellence is currently an option in your organization, then you may be interested in learning more about how this certificate process can help you engage more people in your pursuit of process or operations excellence. If you would like to learn more, simply give me call at the number provided below or send me an e-mail with your questions. I also expect each of my process owners to provide the following each month – a key project list for their processes, a monthly summary of their key accomplishments and challenges, and a performance summary spreadsheet that shows DAILY process inputs and outputs. Because I expect my supervisors to spend 30-60 minutes a day on these items and use a spreadsheet to compile and organize them, I can review their progress at any time by simply looking at the spreadsheet itself, the results trend lines posted in their process areas, and/or their hard copy monthly report (or intranet web page). Would You Like to Learn Even More? I have made it my personal mission to help learn about, and teach others about, how to put high performance work systems in place. I am not trying to get rich here - I am trying to help stop the insanity! If you are willing to make the choices, I can help you make the changes in a low cost, high value added way. It's that simple. Click on one of the following links to learn even more about Great Systems! and the types of systems improvements I can help you make:
