What Managers Need to Know About High Performance (one and half days) Managers can never stop learning. This workshop focuses on five key work practices that people who fill managerial-type roles need to consistently practice in order to take their teams to higher levels of performance. It provides basic, to the point, and highly focused tools and ideas that will help any manager reach higher levels of performance in the areas of leadership, job redesign, systems improvement, team effectiveness, and effective measurement (scorecards). It is based on the What Managers Need to Know About High Performance workbook, and it is facilitated by someone who has had success as a front line manager. Becoming an Effective Front Line Supervisor (three days) Most high performance skills require practice for true learning to occur. Just as practice is required to become a better golfer or to make a higher percentage of your free throws, supervisors need to practice using problem solving tools, coaching others, and developing projects. In this Great Systems! workshop, supervisors practice while they learn. They get immediate feedback from both their peers and the instructor on their performance. They take home a workbook that summarizes the key learnings and provides additional practice exercises that they can use back at work. They create both an action plan for further improvement AND they redesign their job so that high performance work practices can occur. This workshop is based on the How to Become an Effective Front Line Supervisor workbook, and it is facilitated by someone who has had success developing front line supervisors. Ten modules are covered during the three day course, with one month of time being inserted between each one and a half day session to allow time for skill practice and learning. Avoiding Extinction - How to Provide Personal Value in a Changing Workplace (1.5 days) The "Avoiding Extinction" process represents an evolving attempt to provide supervisors, line managers, and others in support roles with a practical tool for preparing themselves for the workplace of tomorrow (and today in many cases). It was created out of frustration to a large extent, as many packages that dealt with adapting one's role to the changing workplace fell short of providing practical, usable tools for actually making such significant personal changes. This workshop is based on the Avoiding Extinction workbook, and it is facilitated by someone who has made significant personal changes themselves in order to remain marketable in today's changing world of work. The five step Avoiding Extinction process makes up the heart of this one and a half day course, but an assortment of tools are also provided to encourage more personal change long after the course has been completed. Practice Being Great! (1.5 days) The "Practice Being Great!" workshop was designed to help all employees contribute more towards achieving of the daily goals that their teams and companies have. The workshop is intended to be a practice field for high performance workplace behaviors and to be a setting for introducing key tools that are needed to help improve workplace safety, support lean manufacturing and six sigma initiatives, reduce costs and improve quality, and function more effectively as a work team member. The workshop's design and facilitation approach is intended to drive significant personal behavior change in the areas of personal responsibility, communication, and contribution through the use of direct, to-the-point feedback and high interaction. How do I become part of one of these events? You can sign up for a on-site workshop by sending me a e-mail indicating which workshop you would like to bring into your facility.
